Prime Intention of the Blog

"People without children would face a hopeless future; a country without trees and wildlife is almost as helpless".

I still remember my childhood days when I used to visit Dandeli a place where even my father started his professional career and also where my most of the relatives were staying.Even though I never brought up in Dandeli no one could stop me to go there since it was just two hours journey from my native. And during every visit I used to get the scoldings from my father and relatives since I used to spend most of the time in forests than in house. So as I grown up my visit to Dandeli became very less except twice or thrice in a year since I became busy with studies but always I had in my mind that I should contribute something to these magnificent forests which inspired me a lot to fall in love with the Conservation. So it is just an attempt from my side to create awareness to save these magnificent animals and landscapes they exist in.If this blog contributes in a small way to achieve this goal I will be the most happiest person in this world.
This blog mainly focuses towards conservation activities in and around Dandeli-Anshi Tiger Reserve. This blog doesn't provide any information regarding tourism and its related activities in and around Dandeli-Anshi Tiger Reserve.

White-bellied Sea Eagle in Dandeli-Anshi Tiger Reserve:

The White-bellied Sea-eagle,a large diurnal bird of prey which are a common sight in coastal areas, are being sighted  in Dandeli-Anshi Tiger Reserve and also near Kali River shore since last week.Mr.Manjunath from Kali River Lodge has captured its snaps in their camera. As per the opinion of Mr.Shashidhar,a bird expert from Kali River Lodge said that it is very rare that these birds are being seen here and they prefer sea food like fish, crab etc.Due to the pollution in coastal areas they might have came here for nesting in the tall trees.
The White-bellied Sea-eagle is one of the largest raptors in Southeast Asia, and the second largest bird of prey in Australia after the Wedge-tailed Eagle (Aquila audax) which stands up to 1 m.
The sea eagle is white on the head, rump and underparts and dark grey on the back and wings. In flight the black flight feathers on the wings are easily seen when the bird is viewed from below. The large, hooked bill is a lead blue-grey with a darker tip, and the eye is dark brown.

Poaching under Control in Dandeli-Anshi Tiger Reserve:

After a longtime we are hearing some good news in Dandeli forests. After declaring this Eco-sensitive area as a Tiger Reserve in 2007,there has been a significant reduction in poaching incidents. However the people from Belgaum and Goa used to come here for hunting the wild animals especially during new year starting .But the forest department is making keen observation on those people and also on the local people who are helping those people, said DCF Mr.Sunil Panwar. However due to lack of staff it is very difficult to make patrolling in the terrain forests,he added.
