The White-bellied Sea-eagle,a large diurnal bird of prey which are a common sight in coastal areas, are being sighted in Dandeli-Anshi Tiger Reserve and also near Kali River shore since last week.Mr.Manjunath from Kali River Lodge has captured its snaps in their camera. As per the opinion of Mr.Shashidhar,a bird expert from Kali River Lodge said that it is very rare that these birds are being seen here and they prefer sea food like fish, crab etc.Due to the pollution in coastal areas they might have came here for nesting in the tall trees.
The White-bellied Sea-eagle is one of the largest raptors in Southeast Asia, and the second largest bird of prey in Australia after the Wedge-tailed Eagle (Aquila audax) which stands up to 1 m.
